TagDeck FAQ

TagDeck FAQ

Questions about local files, privacy, metadata, beta testing and AI music workflows.

What is Soundbender TagDeck?

Soundbender TagDeck is a local-first desktop app for reviewing, organizing and preparing large local music libraries, especially AI-generated song collections.

Is TagDeck just a music player?

No. TagDeck includes an integrated player, but it is not just a player. It is a review, curation and workflow tool for rating, tagging, organizing and preparing songs.

Who is TagDeck for?

TagDeck is especially useful for Suno and Udio creators, AI music producers, DJs, curators and anyone working with large local music libraries.

Does TagDeck upload my music?

No. TagDeck is local-first and does not upload your music library.

Do I need an account?

No. TagDeck does not require an account.

Where is my creative data stored?

Creative organization data is stored locally on your computer in SQLite.

What is the difference between file metadata and internal organization?

File metadata is information stored inside supported audio files, such as title, artist, album, genre, year or lyrics. Internal organization is TagDeck-only data such as rating, status, project, version, internal tags, mood, model, notes and next action.

Does TagDeck write internal tags into my audio files?

No. Internal tags and creative fields stay inside TagDeck unless a specific metadata write action is explicitly requested for supported file metadata.

Does TagDeck edit real audio metadata?

Yes, for supported formats, but only when you explicitly save metadata changes. Metadata writes use backup and validation.

Does removing a song from TagDeck delete the audio file?

No. Removing a song from TagDeck only removes it from the TagDeck library database. It does not delete the audio file.

Does emptying the library delete my files?

No. Emptying the library clears TagDeck's internal library data. It does not delete your audio files.

Can TagDeck handle large libraries?

TagDeck is designed for large local libraries and is being prepared for workflows with visible limits such as 10k and 20k tracks. Search and filters are recommended for very large collections.

Can I use TagDeck with normal music libraries, not only AI music?

Yes. TagDeck can be used with normal local music libraries too, but it is especially designed around AI/Suno/Udio workflows where creators may generate hundreds or thousands of tracks.

What formats are supported?

TagDeck is designed around common local audio formats such as MP3, WAV, FLAC, M4A, OGG and other supported audio files depending on backend and metadata support.

Can I export my data?

TagDeck supports export workflows such as CSV/JSON and backup/restore features so creative organization data can remain portable.

Is Beta 1 stable?

Soundbender TagDeck 1.4.0-beta.1 is ready for testing and feedback, but it is still beta software. Keep backups of important music folders.

Where can I download TagDeck?

You can download the current beta from the Download page.

Is the source code available?

The source code is available on GitHub for inspection, audit, forks and manual builds: github.com/carropereziago-blip/Tagdeck.

What license is the source code?

GPL-3.0.

Does TagDeck install updates automatically?

No. TagDeck uses a manual update checker. It can check for new versions from soundbender.live, but it does not automatically install updates.
